Pune: Free Fire Friendship Takes Dark Turn, Minor Girl Faces Online Threats and Defamation
Pune, 17th November 2023: A minor girl fell victim to online threats and defamation through the ‘Garena Free Fire’ game. The incident took place in a society located on Kondhwa Main Road. An FIR has been registered by Market Yard Police Station in this regard.
The victim, an underage girl who was playing the ‘Garena Free Fire’ game, reportedly formed an online friendship with an individual named Aman Kumar. This online association, spanning three years, took a sinister turn when the accused allegedly threatened the victim’s sister’s life. Under duress, the victim was coerced into sending explicit photos via WhatsApp.
The accused, identified as Aman Kumar, reportedly used the compromising photos to force the victim into an unwanted relationship, threatening to disclose the images to her relatives if she resisted. The ordeal extended beyond mere threats, as Kumar allegedly engaged in obscene communication both over the phone and online.
The victim’s family, including her parents and grandmother, along with her sister, were targeted by the dissemination of explicit images on WhatsApp. The victim’s mother has since lodged a formal complaint at the Market Yard Police Station, prompting the initiation of an investigation into the matter.
Police Inspector (Crime) Swapnali Shinde is leading the investigation.
