Pune: Fund Of Rs 109 Crore Approved For Redevelopment Of Jejuri Fort
Pune, 15th March 2023: The state government has approved a fund of Rs 109 crore for the redevelopment of Jejuri Fort through the Pilgrimage Development Plan. An order in this regard will likely be issued in the next 15 days. In the second phase of the development plan, the foothill of the fort along with the development of the city is being planned. Earlier, there were about 150 Deepmalas on the fort, but they became extinct in time. Most of them will be conserved in this first phase.
The temple work is mainly done in stone. Therefore, worn-out stones will be replaced. Also, the stones in good condition will be polished. It has been pointed out that earlier there were 150 Deepmalas on the fort. Although it is not possible to restore all these Deepmalas at present, many of them will be restored. The conservation of the existing Deepmalas will be done by replacing the stones and making them bright. This work will be done mainly in lime. The development and conservation work of the temple at Jejuri Fort will be done in this phase.
The area of the temple on the fort is 1,240 square meters and the conservation of the temple will be done in the first phase of the work. A tender of Rs 17 crore has been released for that. Considering the historical and religious importance of the fort, this work will be done through the State Archeology Department. Another tender of Rs 18 crores for the same work will also be released soon. Temporary repairs are done by the temple management which is circumstantial but not scholarly. Therefore, such repairs will now get a new look.
The temple is the first stage of conservation. In the second phase, a plan is being prepared for the development of the city, roads, water, and residential system. Pune District Planning Officer Kiran Indalkar said that it will be finalized soon.
