Pimpri, 15th March 2023: The indefinite strike called by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) employees for various demands, including the old pension scheme, continues for the second day in a row. Employees did not show up for work. All municipal halls are closed. Therefore, for the second day in a row, the work of the municipal corporation has come to a standstill.

The employees have gone on an indefinite strike since Tuesday for various demands like the old pension scheme should be implemented, long-term contract workers should be regularized in service by paying them equal pay, vacant posts in the municipal corporation should be filled, and others. As there was no solution to the demands on Tuesday, the indefinite strike continues today, Wednesday, as well.

Municipal officials and employees should not participate in the strike, it will be considered misconduct, and disciplinary action will be taken against such officials and employees. The workers persisted in the strike even after the Commissioner warned that the ‘no work, no pay’ policy would be followed.

Even today, the employees have not returned to the Municipal Corporation. The employees who had come were asked to go home. The hall is not open even if the officials come, resulting in the officials having to go back. Even today, the spontaneous response to the strike is seen and municipal and ward offices are closed.
