Pune: Fursungi Police Book Man for Allegedly Practising Naturopathy Without Medical Degree
Pune, 6th October 2026: Fursungi police have registered a case against a man for allegedly practising medicine and treating patients despite not possessing a recognised medical degree or the required training.
The accused has been identified as Shahzad Iqbal Mohammad Khan, alias Raj Patel, a resident of Khatik Mohalla in Sangod, Kota, Rajasthan.
The complaint was lodged by Dr Rajesh Mahadev Pakhare, 49, a resident of Manjari along the Pune-Solapur Highway.
According to police, Patel did not possess any recognised medical qualification and had also not undergone the mandatory training required to treat patients. Despite this, he was allegedly treating patients at a facility operating as ‘Raj Patel Naturopathy Care’ in the SP Residency area of Bhekrai Nagar.
The complaint states that treating patients without the requisite medical qualifications could pose a risk to their health and lives. Patel allegedly carried out the treatments for financial gain, the complainant alleged.
Fursungi police have registered a case under relevant sections of law governing medical practice. Police are investigating how many patients Patel treated, the medicines and medical equipment allegedly found in his possession and the financial transactions linked to the activity.
