Pune, 1st July 2025: After weeks of anticipation following the SSC results declared on May 13, the admission process for First Year Junior College (FYJC) officially commenced across Maharashtra on Monday. The State Education Department released the first allotment list over the weekend, setting July 7 as the final date to confirm admissions.

The rollout of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP), which covers the entire state for the first time, marked a milestone in streamlining FYJC admissions. However, the process wasn’t without hiccups — multiple schedule changes in June had left students and parents anxious.

Over 62,000 Allotted Seats in Pune
In Pune district, 62,812 students received allotments in the first round, with just over 2,000 seats remaining unfilled across junior colleges. By 6 PM Monday, a total of 40,211 students statewide had confirmed their seats, signaling a strong response to the digital admission platform.

An education department official said, “This is the first time the centralised system has been extended beyond metro cities to cover the entire state. We’re closely monitoring the technical support and feedback from students to ensure smooth processing.”

Mixed Response to Online System
While the majority of applicants reported a seamless experience, a few encountered minor technical issues. Anand Ingale, a student from Kothrud, said, “We were ready with all our documents, but there was a bit of trouble uploading the signature and photo due to file size limits. Other than that, everything was well-organized.” Anand confirmed his admission to the Arts stream.

High Numbers Get First Preference
Of the 10,66,005 students who applied in the first CAP round, 6,32,194 were allotted seats in junior colleges across Maharashtra. Significantly, 4,57,841 students received their first-choice colleges. As per the rules, those who were allotted their top preference must confirm their admission, or they will be barred from participating in subsequent CAP rounds.

Next Steps for Students
Students who have been allotted colleges in the first round are required to complete their admission confirmation by July 7. The next rounds of the CAP will be conducted based on the number of remaining vacancies.
Officials urged students to complete the process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute glitches and ensure eligibility for further rounds if required.
