Pune Ganesh Visarjan 2026: PMC Ready With 38 Ghats, 812 Immersion Tanks and 224 Idol Collection Centres

Pune, 24th September 2026: Ahead of the final day of the 10-day Ganeshotsav festival, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has completed preparations for Ganesh Visarjan, with immersion facilities, idol collection centres, CCTV surveillance and a large civic workforce deployed across the city.

PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said the civic administration has made arrangements across all 15 regional offices to ensure a smooth and safe immersion ceremony. He also appealed to citizens and Ganesh mandals to celebrate peacefully, maintain discipline and follow the scheduled timings of the immersion procession.

“The PMC has made comprehensive arrangements for Ganesh Visarjan across the city. A total of 38 ghats have been made available under the 15 regional offices, along with additional immersion facilities to manage the expected crowds,” Ram said.

812 immersion tanks at 305 locations
According to Ram, the PMC has constructed 58 immersion ponds (hauds) and arranged 812 iron immersion tanks at 305 locations across the city.

“We have arranged 58 immersion ponds and 812 iron tanks at 305 locations so that citizens have convenient options for immersing Ganesh idols and crowds at the river ghats can be managed effectively,” Ram said.

The civic body has also established 224 Ganesh idol collection centres, where citizens can hand over idols for appropriate disposal.

“There are 224 idol collection centres across the city where citizens can hand over their Ganesh idols,” Ram said.

For Shadu clay Ganesh idols and Shadu clay collection, the PMC has arranged 45 collection centres across the areas covered by its regional offices.

CCTV surveillance at immersion ghats
Security and crowd management have also been prioritised, with CCTV cameras installed at the immersion ghats to monitor activities and help prevent untoward incidents.

“CCTV cameras have been installed at every immersion ghat as part of the security arrangements and to ensure that any untoward incident can be detected and addressed promptly,” Ram said.

The civic body has also arranged Nirmalya collection at 267 locations, with a total of 358 Nirmalya urns and containers placed across the city.

More than 4,000 sanitation workers deployed
The PMC has deployed a substantial workforce to manage sanitation and other civic services during the immersion ceremony.

Ram said the deployment includes 16 senior health inspectors, 161 health inspectors, 292 mukadams and 4,179 permanent sanitation workers, along with other civic personnel.

“A large civic workforce has been deployed to ensure cleanliness and provide essential services throughout the immersion process. We have also made 1,670 vehicles available for various operations,” Ram said.

Idol re-immersion at Wagholi quarry
The PMC will also undertake the re-immersion of Ganesh idols collected through its collection centres.

“The Ganesh idols collected by the municipal corporation will be re-immersed at the quarry in Wagholi,” Ram said.

With large crowds expected across Pune on the final day of Ganeshotsav, Ram urged citizens and mandals to cooperate with civic and police personnel.

“I appeal to citizens and Ganesh mandals to celebrate peacefully, follow the procession schedule and cooperate with the administration so that the immersion ceremony concludes smoothly and safely,” he said.
