Pune, August 24, 2020: Punekars are encouraged to immerse their Ganesh idols in the mobile immersion tanks or at home only. No permission will be granted to immerse idols in rivers or the riverside immersion tanks due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation, said Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol.

He also appreciated the citizens for successfully keeping the Ganeshotsav low-key this year. “By doing so, even during an important festival, we have given a message to the entire world, like we always do,” he said.

Going ahead, this time, the immersion for the five-day, seven-day as well as 10-day Ganesh festivals will not be allowed in the rivers. A total of 30 mobile immersion tanks have been made available to the people across the city. At the same time, arrangements have also been made to provide people with ammonium bicarbonate to immerse idols at home itself. The Mayor has appealed to the citizens to continue to cooperate with the city administration in these trying times.
