Pune Ganeshotsav 2026: No Fresh Permissions Needed for Existing Pandal Sites, Old Pandal Approvals Valid
Pune, 24th August 2026: Ganesh mandals in Pune will not have to obtain fresh permissions for pandals, welcome arches and ringan mandaps this year if the structures are being set up at locations covered by earlier permissions, Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said.
The Ganesh festival will be celebrated in Pune from September 14 to 25 this year. Permissions issued in 2019 for festival pandals, welcome arches and ringan mandaps for the period from 2022 to 2026 will continue to remain valid, the civic administration said.
However, fresh permission will be mandatory if changes are required at a location due to road works, infrastructure projects or any other reason.
The civic administration, along with the traffic police and police department, will process applications for pandal permissions as per the applicable rules. All necessary permissions will be facilitated through a single-window system, the PMC said.
The civic body has urged Ganesh mandals to strictly follow regulations, particularly those related to noise pollution and public inconvenience.
Mandals will be required to remove pandals, stages, ringan mandaps and arches within three days after the festival ends. They will also have to fill any potholes created on roads and restore the site to its original condition. Violations will invite action, the PMC warned.
The civic body will also have the power to cancel a permission before the festival if a dispute arises over the location approved for a pandal or welcome arch.
Ganesh mandals have also been directed to display a copy of their permission prominently at the site, protected with plastic coating.
