Pune: Gang Booked Under MCOCA For Extorting Money Under Pretext Of Accidents

Dattawadi, 19th January 2023: Irfan Ismail Sayyid (30), a resident of Kamthe Vasti in Sadesatra Nali, Hadapsar, who spread terror by swindling from the road on the pretext of an accident, has been prosecuted under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). This is the seventh MCOCA action taken by Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr.

The action has been taken against gang leader Sayyid and his accomplices Sharad alias Danny Raosaheb Ahire (26), a resident of Mhalunge, Shankar Audumbar Pakale (27), a resident of Loni Kalbhor and one of his female accomplices.

On December 10, when the complainant was going to his residence from work at night, three people on two two-wheelers along with their female companion told the complainant that there had been two accidents that happened because of him. The complainant was forced to pay for the accommodation for the said accidents. The accused asked for Rs 40,000 and made the complainant’s friends pay Rs 20,000 online while threatening him. The entire incident was reported at Dattawadi Police station.

While investigating the crime, it was found that the accused had committed crimes like robbery, disobeying police orders, creating terror, and causing injury to get financial gain by forming their organized gang. Despite taking preventive action against them, they have committed such crimes again and again.

Under the guidance of Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Pawar, Senior Police Inspector Abhay Mahajan of Dattawadi Police Station, Crime Inspector Vijay Khomane, Sub-Inspector Chandrakant Kamthe and Kundan Shinde, Prakash Margaje, Dayanand Telange Patil, Kisholwale, Saddam Sheikh, Prashant Shinde, Amit Surve prepared MCOCA’s proposal.

The proposal was submitted to the Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Rajendra Dahale through DCP (Zone 3) Suhail Sharma. Accordingly, action was taken against the accused persons.
