Pune: Ganpati Lamp Topples, Sparks Flat Fire in Narhe; 70-Year-Old Woman Saved
Narhe, 3rd September 2025: An elderly woman was rescued after a fire broke out in a flat at Sundar Sanskruthi Society, Canal Road, Narhe, late Tuesday night. The blaze was triggered when a burning lamp placed in front of a Ganesh idol toppled, igniting decorative materials.
The flat, decorated for Ganeshotsav, belonged to 70-year-old Kumud Barsawle, who was alone when the incident occurred. Thick smoke quickly filled the flat, creating panic in the society.
Upon receiving an alert, firefighters from Narhe Fire Station, including Naresh Pangare, Gogavale, Nitin Bhowad, and Akash Shinde, rushed to the spot. Using the society’s fire extinguishing system, they brought the flames under control and safely rescued Barsawle from the flat.
The fire damaged decorative items but was contained before spreading further. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
