Pune, 29th September 2025: After three consecutive days of incessant rain, Pune city received a brief respite on Sunday. The break in showers brought much-needed relief to residents, though the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to very light rain for the next two days.

While the intensity of rainfall is expected to decline across the city and suburbs, IMD has predicted continued heavy showers in the Daund, Indapur, Baramati and Shirur areas of Pune district.

Between Saturday and Sunday morning, heavy rain lashed several areas in Pune, with Chinchwad recording the highest 24-hour rainfall at 66 mm. Other parts of the city also received significant rainfall, including Lohegaon (51.4 mm), Pashan (42.6 mm), Shivajinagar (36.4 mm), Lavale (30.5 mm) and Koregaon Park (28 mm).

Showers were recorded since early Sunday morning across Shivajinagar, Bajirao Road, Parvati Paitha, Kothrud, Aundh, Khadki, Narhe, Dhayri and Hadapsar. The intensity reduced after 11 am, followed by light drizzles through the day.

The wet spell also brought down temperatures in Pune. The maximum temperature dropped to 23.9°C on Sunday from the usual 28°C recorded in recent days, while the minimum temperature stood at 20.9°C. A haze was also visible across the city due to the sudden dip in temperature.

Heavy Rain Persists in Lonavala
Unlike Pune city, Lonavala continues to witness heavy rainfall. On Sunday morning alone, the hill station recorded 88 mm of rainfall. Local residents expressed concern over the persistent showers, stating that continuous rain has disrupted routine work.

According to official records, Lonavala has already surpassed last year’s rainfall figures. By September 28, the region had received 5,977 mm (235.31 inches) of rainfall, compared to 5,822 mm (229.21 inches) recorded during the same period last year.
