Pune, 3rd November 2023: G H Raisoni College of Engineering and Management grabbed the Department of Science & Technology (DST), GoI research grant under the FIST Scheme. The grant is given for development of testing facilities for heavy jobs comprising of beams, pillars and other structures. It will be one of unique facility in the state and facilitates testing of civil structures for industries and residential projects. The grant comprises of Rs.1,01 Cr (50: 50 Sharing basis)

The key focus of the grant is to support the acquisition of a state-of-the-art research equipment known as the “Servo Cyclic Loading Frame.” The equipment boasts a remarkable vertical capacity of 50 tons, coupled with a servo dynamics actuator in the lateral direction, with a capacity of 5 tons.

The project Principal Investigator is Dr. R.D. Kharadkar, Director of GH Raisoni College of Engineering and Management (GHRCEM), Pune and Co-Investigators were Dr. S. G. Ban, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, and Dr. A.G. Dahake, Professor in the Civil Engineering Department. Dr. R.D. Kharadkar told that the facility will benefit the industry and society for testing of civil infrastructures

The Servo Cyclic Loading Frame is a versatile and advanced piece of equipment that will be used for heavy load testing of civil infrastructures. Its applications are diverse and encompass the analysis of tensile, compression, flexure, and shear strength in various structural components. Additionally, it will facilitate the measurement of different mechanical properties associated with the strength and displacement of structural members. The equipment will find utility in conducting tri-axial tests and a wide array of laboratory experiments.

Sunil Raisoni, Chairman of Raisoni Group of Institutions and Shreyesh Raisoni, Executive Director congratulated the researchers.
