Pune: GOG FCC, Snigmay F.C In Summit Clash of City Cup 2021
Pune, 18th November 2021: GOG FCC and Snigmay registered contrasting wins over their respective opponents to set up a summit clash at the inaugural City Cup 2021 knockout tournament at the City Sports Arena, Moshi-Pune, on Sunday.
The tournament is being organized by City F.C Pune under the aegis of the Poona District Football Association (PDFA).
In the second semi-final on Saturday, GOG FCC (Game of Goal Football Coaching Centre) swung a 5-2 result in their favour against Giantz. An early goal by Prakash Thorat (10th) gave GOG FCC an early advantage. Prakash combined with Vicky Rajput and Kartik Raju to beat the Giantz defence, before driving the ball past Giantz goalkeeper Naushad Bodhanwala.
Vicky Rajput (22nd) made it 2-0.
Giantz struck back eleven minutes later. An error by the GOG defence, led to a penalty being awarded to Giantz. Jeevan Nalge stepped up, to score past ‘keeper Suresh Pillai (2-1).
GOG were quick to swell the tally to 3-1 courtesy of a Shrikant Molangiri (36th minute) strike to end the first half.
Changing ends and GOG added another goal to their tally. A delightful through ball by Shrikant Molangiri left the Giantz defence stranded and Bhuvnesh Pillay in a one to one situation with the goalkeeper. Bhuvnesh (55th) made no mistake to make it 4-1.
Giantz pulled one back through Anshul Sharma (57th) to make it 4-2.
Ishwar Kshirsagar (62nd) rounded off the tally for GOG F.C.C.
Earlier, Snigmay F.C played out a goalless draw before getting the better of KP XI via the tie-breaker.
For Snigmay F.C, Sangram Patil, Pratik Sabale, Hemraj Hooda, Shankar Kadam and Walmiki scored. The losers (KP XI) had Vicky Pardeshi, Sandesh More, Prabuddha Gaikwad find the net.
The final between Snigmay F.C and GOG F.C.C will be played at 3.00 pm on 21st November 2021.
