Baramati, 6th July 2021: The Maharashtra state government has approved filling 287 regular posts for the sub-headquarters of Pune rural police at Barhanpur in the Baramati district. Apart from this, 13 posts are also allowed to be taken through an external system.

The state government had permitted setting up a police sub-headquarters to reduce the load on the Pune rural police headquarters and to provide speedy police teams in talukas like Baramati, Indapur and Daund in the district.

The purpose of this was to ensure the immediate availability of police deployment in the southern talukas of the Pune district and to maintain the law and order situation. The Director-General of Police had proposed to create 300 posts to streamline the functioning of the sub headquarters.

The proposal was recently tabled at the Chief Secretary meeting. The proposal has been approved and further action will be taken after the Finance Department approves the creation of 287 regular posts and 13 posts through external agencies as required.

Meanwhile, the work of the Sub Police Headquarters has gained momentum and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is trying to speed up the work. After the establishment of the Police Sub- Headquarters in Baramati, arrangements for various programs, rallies, agitations as well as political rallies and other matters will be available immediately. Security will be sent from this sub headquarters for the southern parts of Pune district and this will save fuel, time and money as at present additional forces have to be sent from headquarters on Pashan road in Pune city.

Baramati is the political bastion of the ruling Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
