Pune, 24th May 2023: In a significant move, the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Maharashtra, has announced a monthly stipend of eight thousand rupees for B.Sc. students, bringing relief to the aspiring scholars. The decision, effective from March 2023, also includes the provision to cover their tuition fees.

The B.Sc. Paramedical Technology course, offered by the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in Nashik, entails a three-year program with a one-year on-the-job training requirement. During the internship period, students actively contribute to various hospital departments, leading to demands from both representatives and students to waive their tuition fees. In response to a petition filed in the High Court, the court itself directed authorities to make a decision.

Consequently, in a Cabinet meeting held on April 19, it was decided to provide scholarships to the deserving students. Subsequently, the Higher and Technical Education Department released an official government statement in this regard.

As per the government’s decision, approval has been granted for the payment of tuition fees to B.Sc. students. Government medical college students’ tuition fees will be covered through the allocated budgetary provision, while municipal corporation medical college students’ tuition fees will be paid from the respective municipal corporation’s approved fund. This decision will be implemented retrospectively, starting from March 2023.

This move by the government aims to alleviate the financial burden on B.Sc. students pursuing the Paramedical Technology course and acknowledges their valuable contributions during the internship period.
