Pune: Gritty Gunners F.C Indrayani F.C rule day
Pune, 17th May 2023: Gunners F.C scored an upset win, while Indrayani S.C, Thundercatz and Sangvi F.C ‘A’ moved into the next round of the inaugural Aspire Cup 2023 Super and First Division Football Tournament, at the Dr. Hedgewar ground, Pimpri here on Wednesday.
The tournament is being played under the aegis of the Poona District Football Association (PDFA) and organised by Aspire India.
First Division outfit Gunners F.C proved to be the toast of the day scoring a 1-0 win over Super Division side Sangam Young Boys ‘A’ .
The all important goal was scored by Vineet Kodre (9th) capitalising on a rebound off the rival keeper Romel P and placing it home.
Later, a nine-man Indrayani S.C scored in either half through Jagat Raj (25th, 50th) to put an end to the campaign of Ghorpadi Tamil United 2-0.
In the third match, Thundercatz F.C scored a solitary (1-0) win over Snigmay Pune FC.
Hrishikesh Karale (27th) netted the winner with a dainty chip.
Earlier, Sangvi F.C ‘A’ edged out Roopali S.C 4-2 via the tie-breaker after playing out a goalless.
Dheeraj Nair, Hari Bigala, Vaibhav Patil and Subodh Lama were successful with their attempts for the winners, while Anurag Pawar and Shubham Potghan netted for the losers.
