Pune, 4th January 2023: A complaint has been made to the guardian minister Chandrakant Patil when MLAs, former leaders of the house, and former corporators started to fight for their contractor to get the work due to massive political interference in the tender process of Rs 53 crores of road department.

The Guardian Minister was apprised of the political pressure and the ongoing trouble to qualify the contractor illegally. Sources said that orders have been given to the administration to accept the tender as per the rules, and if anyone is behaving incorrectly, action has to be taken.

Patil held a meeting on Monday to review the projects in Pune city. In this, the newly constructed DP roads in the Kothrud area were discussed. It was also discussed that in the next phase, asphalting works will be done in the city. At that time, Patil was told that political pressure was being applied to tender number four. “They should complete the tender process according to the rules after taking information about all these tender processes. If someone changes it by applying political pressure, report it to me,” Patil said. Patil told the officials that action will be taken against it.

There are only a few contractors in the city eligible for tenders of the large amount by the administration. Therefore, there has not been proper competition in road tenders. If there had been a competition in this, the people of Pune would have saved at least 25 per cent.

Contractors have not attached previous plant locations, valid contracts, experience etc.

Pune city president of Congress Arvind Shinde said that if the municipal commissioner verifies the qualifications of all the contractors at his level, the malpractice will come to light.
