Hadapsar, 2nd February 2022: To facilitate repairing work, the Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram Flyover at Hadapsar Chowk on the Pune-Solapur Road would be closed to vehicular traffic for more than a month.

Vibrations in the flyover road were reported following which the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated the work of the repairs. Trucks, tempos, and multi-axle vehicles use the flyover to enter and exit the city on the Solapur and Saswad routes.

Under the supervision of experts including the College Of Engineering Pune (COEP), a structural audit will be done after which a repair action plan will be determined. Preliminary findings indicate that there are problems with pillars P-11, 17 and 27 like cracks, bearing issues etc.

Shriniwas Bonala, chief engineer (projects) of the PMC, informed that the flyover was built about 15-20 years ago by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).

“Repairs have been proposed by COEP and structural auditors. They asked to close the flyover for vehicular traffic on February 5. We immediately informed the traffic police department who shut the flyover on the same day. The flyover will be opened for traffic after repair work which is expected to take about one to one and half months”, he said.
