Pune: Hadapsar Police Recovers 70 Grams Stolen Gold Ornaments From Maid
Hadapsar, 4th December 2022: The officials from Hadapsar police station have arrested a maid who stole 70 grams of gold jewellery from a flat where she worked. The theft took place when the family members had gone out of Pune to celebrate a birthday.
After they returned, they checked the ornaments required for worship and found them stolen. They had kept the ornaments in the cupboard drawer but could not find them. After an FIR was registered, police began the investigation.
Senior Police Inspector Arvind Gokule, in charge of Hadapsar police station, said, “During the investigation, we found that there was no damage or vandalism to the outer lock and cupboard of the seventh-floor flat of the complainant. It was learned that a woman came to the flat for household work. Based on that, the woman was called to the police station for investigation and the crime was investigated but nothing useful was found.”
He added, “The team continued the investigation and examined the CCTV footage of the elevator in the housing society. The woman was again called for questioning and she gave different statements. Her house was searched but nothing was found in the search. Policeman Shahid Shaikh found that her husband is an autorickshaw driver. When the autorickshaw was checked, some gold ornaments were found under the seat at the rear side of the rickshaw. When confronted, the woman admitted that she had committed the crime and said she had kept the jewellery in the autorickshaw. And the rest of the ornaments are said to have been hidden in a drum on the terrace where they live. Since there are two keys to the door of the complainant’s flat, she took one of the keys and used it to enter the flat and commit the crime.”
Police have recovered a gold necklace, and a gold ring, besides a silver crown of Shri Swami Samarth, all worth Rs 3.5 lakh from the accused woman.
