Pune: Hadapsar Restaurant Fire Caused by Cylinder Explosion Quickly Contained; No Casualties Reported

Hadapsar, 11th February 2024: In the early hours of today morning, a cylinder explosion rocked a restaurant located at Hadapsar in Pune. Despite the severity of the incident, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Firefighters from Kale Borate Nagar Fire Station and Hadapsar Fire Station swiftly responded to the emergency after receiving an alert from the fire brigade control room at 3:12 am.

 

Upon arrival at the scene, fire brigade personnel encountered a fire raging through the ground floor plus two floors of the building housing the restaurant, ‘Bhannat Biryani House’. Residents residing on the upper floors were safely evacuated, while firefighters promptly commenced efforts to contain the blaze. Three men and three women were successfully rescued and relocated to a secure location. Meanwhile, citizens at the scene attempted to mitigate the fire’s spread before the arrival of the rescue team.

 

Firefighters immediately initiated firefighting operations, utilizing water to douse the flames and prevent further escalation. During the operation, three cylinders were removed from the premises, with one cylinder confirmed to have exploded. The fire was brought under control within fifteen minutes, with cooling operations subsequently carried out to fully extinguish the flames within thirty minutes.

 

The fire resulted in extensive damage to all items within the Bhannat Biryani house, while two adjacent shops also suffered fire damage. No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.

 

Fire Officer Anil Gaikwad, along with drivers Raju Sheikh and Narayan Jagtap, and firemen Animesh Kondgekar, Babasaheb Chavan, Chandrakant Navale, Ketan Ghadge, and Sanket Shinde, played pivotal roles in effectively responding to and managing the fire

situation.
