Pune: Health Department Launches Action Against 50 Hospitals With Expired Permits

Pune, 18th January 2023: According to the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act, more than 50 hospitals in Pune have not renewed their permits, and 12 hospitals have been confirmed to be closed. The health department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has given notice to these hospitals that they have one month to renew their licences or their licences will be suspended.

The Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act was violated by hospitals whose permits had not been renewed; therefore, the PMC Health Department launched a campaign to penalise them. This issue was discovered after PMC started a survey following the State Government’s standards for monitoring hospitals.

To renew their license, hospitals must provide the required paperwork to the health department. According to the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act, no nursing home may operate unless it has obtained the proper registration or has had that registration properly renewed.
