Pune: Health Minister Tanaji Sawant Opposes Action On Encroachments
Pune, 7th February 2023: The Ward office of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) took action and imposed a fine against encroachments in the region. As soon as this came to the notice of Health Minister Tanaji Sawant, he directly approached the ward office and demanded that no action be taken.
But the municipal officials were adamant about the action. However, the Health Minister, who was enraged by this, demanded an inquiry into the matter from Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar.
Action is being taken against encroachments by the encroachment removal department of Dhankawadi Ward Office. On Monday afternoon, the action was taken against a vegetable seller and he was fined Rs 10,000. As he was unable to pay such a huge amount, he requested to reduce the fine but it was not accepted.
This vegetable seller, Santosh Sathe of Prahar, narrated the incident. He also came there and understood the officers and employees. But they were not ready to listen. Sathe called former state minister Bachu Kadu and told him about this. At that time, Kadu also spoke to the officers of the encroachment department and asked them to leave the cart. Still, the officer did not listen.
Sathe then called State Health Minister Tanaji Sawant. He also discussed this with the concerned officials over the phone. But as the officers were not listening, in the next five minutes Sawant reached the Dhankawadi Ward Office. But as the authorities were not listening, he called the commissioner and ordered to investigate the matter. According to this, a meeting will be held with the Commissioner on Tuesday.
Commissioner Vikram Kumar said, “The Health Minister has complained about the encroachment action. A meeting will be held on Tuesday in this regard. This will be investigated and further action will be taken.”
