Pune Heatwave Alert: Maximum Temperature Reaches 40 Degrees; IMD Predicts Thunderstorms

Pune, 18th April 2023: The city of Pune and its surrounding areas are experiencing intense heat despite cloudy weather. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the next two days and predicted thunderstorms in the afternoon. The maximum temperature in some places in the district has reached 40 degrees.

On Monday (17th April), the city recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2 degrees and a minimum temperature of 19.2 degrees. In Koregaon Park, Chinchwad, Dhamdhere, and Shirur, the temperature was between 40 degrees. The heat wave-like conditions are now being felt in some areas of the state, with the highest temperature of 43.2 degrees recorded in Chandrapur.

The maximum temperature is expected to rise in the state for the next two to three days, with Vidarbha already experiencing temperatures above 40 degrees in most of the districts. Jalgaon, Solapur, Parbhani, and Beed have also recorded a maximum temperature between 40 degrees.

The IMD has advised people to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day and keep themselves hydrated. The state government has also issued an advisory to take necessary precautions to avoid heatstroke and other heat-related illnesses.
