Pimpri Chinchwad, 6th July 2026:The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Monday shifted more than 4,200 people from flood-affected areas to safer locations as heavy rainfall triggered flood-like conditions across the city. Relief centres have been set up at various locations, where the civic body is providing food, medical care, drinking water and other basic amenities to those displaced.

Continuous rainfall over the past two days has led to a rise in the water levels of the Mula, Pavana and Indrayani rivers, prompting the civic administration to evacuate residents from low-lying areas along the riverbanks to prevent any loss of life or property.

PCMC commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi reviewed the flood situation and directed officials to issue advance warnings through public announcement systems in vulnerable areas and evacuate residents before water levels rise further. He instructed the administration to ensure that no untoward incidents occur and that adequate precautions are taken in all flood-prone localities.

The commissioner also directed officials to deploy medical teams at relief centres to conduct health check-ups and provide first aid to evacuees. He instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted arrangements for food, drinking water and other essential facilities at the shelters.

The civic body said its disaster control room is functioning round the clock. Citizens facing emergencies have been urged to contact the PCMC control room or the fire brigade for assistance.

The civic administration has identified several vulnerable localities, including Bhatnagar, Labour Camp, Kiwale, Keshavnagar, Jadhav Ghat, Kalewadi, Pimple Nilakh’s Panchsheel Nagar, Ramnagar, Bopkhel, Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Pimple Gurav and Laxminagar, where the risk of flooding remains high.
