Pune: Heavy Rains In Catchment Areas Of Khadakwasla Dam Project

Pune, 7th July 2022: In the last 24 hours, the water storage in the Khadakwasla dam project has increased by 0.73 TMC. The total water storage of the Khadakwasla project which includes the Panshet, Varasgaon and Temghar dams, is now 4.51 TMC.

Meanwhile, intermittent rain showers are falling in the catchment area of these dams throughout the day. Therefore, the water level in these dams is increasing day by day. The total water storage is expected to reach TMC by tomorrow (Thursday) evening, according to the Water Resources Department.

The total water storage capacity of the four dams – Khadakwasla, Panshet, Varasgaon and Temghar – is 29.15 TMC. Varasgaon dam storage capacity is 12.82 TMC, Panshet dam capacity is 10.65 TMC, Temghar dam can store 3.71 TMC while Khadakwasla dam has a storage capacity of 1.97 TMC.

The total water storage in this project was reduced to 2.51 TMC on July 2, 2022. However, with the onset of rains in the catchment area of these dams from July 3, the water level is increasing.
