Pune, June 7, 2020: The hairdressing salons have been closed since the nationwide lockdown phase 1, which has caused a major financial crisis to these professionals and barbers. The Maharashtra Salon Professionals and Parlor Association has demanded that the Maharashtra state government should provide financial assistance to the professionals running the hairdressing salons to get rid of this crisis.

An agitation was organized by Maharashtra Salon Professionals and Parlor Association in Pune yesterday demanding that the government accept their demands. The hairdressers who participated in the agitation followed the social distance by wearing masks and showing demand banners. The government has allowed all other businesses to open shops but hairdressers have not yet been allowed.

Somnath Kashid, a leader of the barber community, demanded that the government should allow hairdressing salons in the state and that the government should provide cash assistance to hairdressers on the lines of those being provided in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.

The Maharashtra Salon Professionals and Parlor Association has also submitted a memorandum to the state government in this regard.
