Pune: Hinjawadi IT Park Flooded After Heavy Downpour; Roads Submerged, Two-Wheelers Swept Away

Hinjawadi, 7th June 2025: A sudden, heavy rainfall this morning caused severe waterlogging in Pune’s Hinjawadi IT Park, turning the area into a virtual water park and disrupting daily life for commuters and residents alike. Despite lasting only a few minutes, the intense downpour flooded roads rapidly, particularly in parts of Telco Road and Landewadi, where videos showed motorcycles being swept away by strong water currents.
The unexpected flooding highlighted serious shortcomings in the drainage infrastructure and the lack of adequate pre-monsoon preparations by civic authorities. Residents of nearby areas such as Bhosari MIDC and Landewadi, falling under Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits, also faced major difficulties as water clogged streets and hampered movement.
Citizens expressed frustration over the administration’s inaction, accusing officials of merely convening meetings and releasing statements without taking tangible steps to address the perennial flooding issues.
Adding to the criticism, Member of Parliament Supriya Sule shared footage of water accumulation near Ryan International School in Hinjawadi Phase 2. She questioned the effectiveness of existing drainage facilities and urged the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to take swift, long-term action, including timely desilting and maintenance, to prevent future incidents.
