Pune: Hinjawadi Mixer Truck Mishap Claims Woman’s Life, Driver on the Run

Hinjawadi, 10th October 2025: A tragic accident occurred in Pandav Nagar when a woman was struck by a mixer truck. The vehicle was operating in violation of the heavy vehicle restrictions, which prohibit such trucks between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., and again from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Police Inspector Rahul Sonawane, heading the Hinjawadi Traffic Division, told The Free Press Journal, “The collision took place around 11 a.m. on a stretch where road conditions are poor. We immediately dispatched our personnel to the location. The mixer truck struck the woman during the hours when heavy vehicles are banned.”

Senior Police Inspector Balaji Pandhare of Hinjawadi Police Station added, “The driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. We have seized the mixer truck, and the driver will be apprehended. A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder is being registered, as the driver recklessly violated the heavy vehicle ban. The investigation is underway.”
