Pune, 3rd November 2026: Pune’s existing Metro corridors are expected to see a significant ridership boost with the launch of the Maan-District Court Metro Line 3, with Maha Metro anticipating an additional 50,000 to 75,000 commuters in phases over the next few months.

The new Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar corridor will open up interchange connectivity at Civil Court station, allowing commuters to switch between the three Metro corridors and potentially drive up footfall on the Vanaz-Ramwadi and Swargate-PCMC routes.

Maha Metro officials said train frequency on the two operational corridors would be increased depending on the rise in passenger traffic. Trains currently run at five-minute intervals, while the existing system is equipped to handle more frequent services.

A foot overbridge has been constructed at Civil Court station to facilitate movement between the corridors. However, commuters will initially have to purchase separate tickets for the two networks. An integrated online ticketing system is expected to become operational with the launch of the new line.

The daily ridership on the two operational corridors is currently between 2.3 lakh and 2.5 lakh. We expect the new connectivity to push up these numbers.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the Maan-District Court Metro Line 3 on Tuesday and lay the foundation stone for four proposed Metro corridors spanning around 45km. The projects include Vanaz-Chandni Chowk, Ramwadi-Vitthalwadi, Nal Stop-Manikbaug and Kharadi-Khadakwasla.
