Pune Hit-and-Run: Injured Man Alleges Car Driver Using Mobile Phone Hit Him in Mohammadwadi

Mohammadwadi, 9th April 2026: A case of alleged negligent driving and a hit-and-run incident has been reported from the Mohammadwadi area of Pune, raising concerns about road safety and enforcement of traffic rules in the locality.
According to the victim, Jahir Patel, the accident occurred near a local circle earlier in the day. Patel alleged that the driver of a car was driving recklessly and was using a mobile phone at the time of the incident, which led to the loss of control and resulted in the accident.
The vehicle involved in the incident reportedly bears the registration number INDMH12TD1118.
Patel sustained an injury to his leg in the accident and is currently unable to move without assistance. Describing his condition, he said:
“I am alone and I can’t walk. I want to file a police complaint, but I am unable to go anywhere due to my injury. The driver hit me and fled from the spot. However, I have taken pictures and videos as proof.”
The incident highlights the issue of negligent driving and hit-and-run cases in Pune, particularly in rapidly developing areas such as Mohammadwadi.
Local residents have repeatedly raised concerns over reckless driving, lack of strict monitoring, and inadequate enforcement of traffic regulations in the area. The incident has once again drawn attention to the need for stricter vigilance and timely action against traffic violators.
