Pune: Honeytrap Attempt Foiled In Kondhwa; Four Detained

Kondhwa, 23rd May 2025: A honeytrap case has come to light in Kondhwa, where a businessman was lured to a house under false pretenses, assaulted, and held captive by a couple demanding ransom.

According to the information given by the police, Pravin Lonkar (39), a businessman from Kondhwa, received a video call from his childhood friend Sonal alias Sony Kapre on Thursday evening (22nd May), inviting him over for tea. Upon arrival, she assaulted him by throwing chili powder in his eyes. Her husband, Atul Raykar, along with his accomplices, then physically attacked Pravin, tied his hands and feet, and confined him inside their flat.

The assailants confiscated Pravin’s ATM cards and mobile phone and threatened to harm him if he did not hand over cash and jewelry from his home. They even sent a message to Pravin’s wife from his phone, claiming that they were sending someone to collect valuables and money from the house.

Upon receiving this alarming message, Pravin’s wife immediately approached the police station. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Assistant Police Inspector Sukeshini Jadhav initiated an investigation. Using technical analysis of the mobile phone, police traced the location of the accused and successfully rescued Pravin Lonkar.

Following the victim’s complaint, a case was registered against Sonal alias Sony Kapre, Atul Dinakar Raykar, Robin alias Ravi Mandal, and Suresh alias Quresh. All four have been arrested, and police custody has been granted by the court. Police Sub-Inspector Ravindra Gawde is leading the ongoing investigation.
