Pune: Hospital Staff Caught Stealing Jewellery From Covid Patients

Pune, 29th May 2021: Jewellery was stolen from patients at Dedicated Covid Hospital in Baner, Pune police said. A woman along with her aide has been arrested in connection with the crime.

The two have been identified as Sharda Anil Ambildhage (36) of Rahatani Phata, Thergaon, and Anil Tukaram Sangme (35) of Rahatani. Doctors at Covid Hospital in Baner have lodged a complaint in this regard.

Sarada worked at the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Dedicated Covid Hospital located in Baner. Her job was to take care of the patients and clean the area and she was usually on a night shift. While on duty, she and her aide would steal jewellery off the body of the deceased. The relatives of the patients lodged a complaint with the doctors at the hospital.

Doctors checked the CCTV when they started getting several complaints of the same nature. The hospital had received eight complaints and the jewellery worth Rs 1.34 lakh had been stolen. The doctors then decided to file a police complaint with Chatushrungi police station.

The police arrested the woman and during interrogation, she said that she had sold the jewellery through Sangme. Cops are further investigating the case.
