Pune hosts 56th All India Railway Rifle Shooting Championship

Pune, 6th April 2023: The 56th All India Railway Rifle Shooting Championship concluded in Pune on April 4th after a successful five-day event. Organized by the Central Railway Sports Association in association with the Pune Railway Divisional Sports Association, the competition took place at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune.

Indu Dubey, Divisional Railway Manager, inaugurated the championship on March 31st. Over 100 different international and national players from 18 teams of Zonal Railways and various Production Units participated in the championship and displayed their sporting talent.

After the competition, Alok Singh, Additional General Manager, Central Railway, was present as the chief guest. He honored the winners, runners-up teams, and players by giving them medals, trophies, and certificates. Divisional Railway Manager Indu Dubey awarded the winners and congratulated the players.

In team performance, Central Railway won the gold medal for the third consecutive year by securing the first position, while the team from Western Railway came second with the silver medal. Pune Railway Division Clerk Pankaj Mukheja, Swapnil Kusale, and Sumedh Devi Lal were the gold medalists in the individual category.

The event was graced by the presence of Additional Divisional Railway Manager Brijesh Kumar Singh, General Secretary of Central Railway Sports Organization Dhrubajyoti Sengupta, Senior Divisional Engineer (Coordination) Piyush Chaturvedi, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Milind Hirve, Pune Railway Divisional Sports Secretary, and Senior Divisional Materials Manager Vinod Kumar. Meena, Station Director M.L. Meena, Divisional Signal and Telecom Engineer Sunil Sharma, Assistant Divisional Sports Secretary Ashok Shandilya, and many officers, employees, and sports lovers of the headquarters and Pune division were also present.

The Cultural Academy of Pune division presented various attractive, colorful programs. The program was coordinated by Division Personnel Officer Jitendra Singh, and Senior Division Content Manager Vinodkumar Meena gave thanks.

The 56th All India Railway Rifle Shooting Championship was a grand success, and the players demonstrated their exceptional shooting skills. The event was a perfect example of the rich sporting culture that exists within the Indian Railways, and it was celebrated with joy and enthusiasm by all the participants and attendees.
