Pune: Housing Societies Adopting Zero-Waste And STP Practices Offered Up To 10% Tax Discount By PCMC

Pimpri, 14th April 2023: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is offering tax rebates to societies that adopt eco-friendly initiatives. Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh has appealed to eligible societies to apply for a 3-10% tax rebate on their property tax bills.
This initiative is aimed at encouraging the adoption of environmentally-friendly practices, such as on-site composting and sewage treatment plants (STP). The tax collection department is offering discounts to societies that implement these practices, with a maximum of 10% for those that adopt a zero-waste concept and operate both an on-site composting system and STP.
However, many societies are unaware of these benefits, so the Municipal Commissioner has urged property owners to install composting systems and STPs and apply online for the rebates. Last year, 12,000 flat owners availed of the scheme and received a discount of Rs 65 lakh.
Nilesh Deshmukh, Assistant Commissioner of Tax Collection and Taxation Department, has urged eligible property owners to apply online on the municipal corporation’s website for availing the benefits. However, if the systems are not operational in subsequent years, the exemption will be canceled, and recovery will be applicable for wrong discounts taken.
