Pune: Housing Societies Should Generate Electricity From Solar Energy: Commissioner Shekhar Singh

Pimpri, 12th May 2023: To help make Pimpri-Chinchwad city clean and beautiful, Commissioner and Administrator of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Shekhar Singh has appealed housing societies in Pimpri-Chinchwad city should generate electricity from solar energy and use it for society. It saves a large amount of electricity from the MSEDCL as well as society’s electricity bill. Also, initiatives should be taken to dispose of the wet waste generated in society.

On behalf of Mahindra Royal Housing Society in Pimpri, a solar power project of 55-kilowatt capacity has been started. The project was inaugurated by Commissioner Singh.

Due to solar energy panels, electricity is being saved to a large extent, and the society bill is coming down by Rs 1.5 lakh per month. The society has got a seven per cent exemption in property tax for getting a five-star rating. Also, in PCMC’s clean survey competition, the society received first prize and a certificate for implementing a zero waste campaign by disposing of wet waste in the ‘C’ Ward Office.

Meanwhile, a free health check-up camp was organized on behalf of the society on this occasion. 55 people were examined for liver disease. So, 45 people donated blood. The camp was organized in collaboration with Dr DY Patil Hospital.

Municipal Assistant Commissioner Anna Bodde, Police Inspector Rajendra Nikalje, Dr Manisha Garud, Mahindra Royal Housing Society President Sanjay Pagare, Secretary Rajesh Heber, Treasurer Venu Gopal, Sandeep More, Vina Dave, Rekha Mundke, Manoj Singh, Sohan Meni, Jagdish Pari, Santosh Madnagarli, Rahul Marathe and members of the society were present on this occasion.
