Pune: Illegal Banners Nailed To Trees, PCMC Lodges FIR Against Unknown Person

Pune 14th Sept 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has started taking strict action against those installing illegal banners on the trees using nails in the city. The action aims to curb the nailing on trees, said officials.

In the latest action, the municipal corporation has lodged an FIR against an unknown person for allegedly nailing illegal banners having advertisements of Sainath Technical Institute and Yoddha Academy. The banners were nailed in Bhosari MIDC area. The officials of the garden department of the civic body have lodged a case with police in the matter.

Bhosari MIDC police have booked an unidentified person under sections 3 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act along with section 14 of the Environment Protection Act. Further investigation in the matter is underway. It may be noted that the civic body had earlier appealed to the citizens to remove illegal nailing and banners from trees across the city and the citizens were warned of strict action. However, the civic officials have observed some defaulters defying the rules following which the municipal corporation has decided to lodge cases in such matters.
