Pune: IMD Issues Nowcast Warning for Thunderstorm, Gusty Winds in Parts of Maharashtra
Pune, 23rd May 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning at 10:00 AM IST today, alerting residents of several Maharashtra districts about the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light rain, along with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph, over the next 3-4 hours.
According to the IMD, the weather conditions are likely to impact isolated areas in the districts of Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Mumbai, Raigad, Pune, Thane, Sangli, Satara, Solapur, and Ahilya Nagar.
Residents are advised to take precautions while stepping outdoors, especially in areas vulnerable to sudden changes in weather. Authorities recommend securing loose objects, avoiding shelter under trees during lightning, and driving cautiously due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
