Pune: Increase In Scholarship Amount For Minority Students, Revised Guidelines Published

Pune, 7th October 2022: The amount of scholarship has been increased in the scholarship scheme implemented by the Minority Development Department of the Maharashtra state for minority students.

 

Now students will be given scholarships up to Rs 50,000, and it is mandatory to register at least 50 per cent attendance of students through an Aadhaar-linked biometric system.

 

The scholarship scheme is implemented by the state government since 2008-09 for the minority community in the state. The government approved increasing the scope of the scheme and the scholarship amount from 2022-23. Also, revised guidelines for scholarships were announced.

 

The scheme applies to students of recognised Degree, Post-Graduate, and Diploma courses under the jurisdiction of the Directorate of Arts, Medical, Para-Medical, Technical, Business and Higher & Education Department. Distance and correspondence courses will not be eligible for the scheme.

 

Under the revised scheme, the amount of education fee and examination fee or Rs.50,000, whichever is less, while for non-professional courses in Arts, Commerce, and Science, the combined amount of education fee and examination fee or Rs 5,000, whichever is less, as scholarship will be provided to students.

 

It has been clarified that the scholarship amount will be credited to the student’s account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in two such instalments by the end of October and the end of February.

The concerned minority student should be a resident of the state and should have passed the class 10 examination (SSC) from the state board. Students admitted through the Common Entrance Test (CET) and direct admission to non-CET courses will be eligible for this scholarship. Only two children in a family will get benefit from this scheme.

 

Students from family with an annual income of Rs eight lakhs or less from all sources are eligible for the scholarship. It was mentioned that the student will be eligible for any one of the scholarship schemes of the Central Government or State Government.

 

If the student receives another scholarship or stipend, he/she will not get the benefit of this scheme. Absenteeism, misbehaviour, and participation in a strike without prior permission will result in the withholding of a scholarship.

 

If it is found that the scholarship is obtained based on wrong information, the scholarship will be cancelled and the concerned will be blacklisted. If the scholarship holder drops out of the course, the scholarship amount will be recovered.
