Pune: IndiGo Operational Crisis Triggers Skyrocketing Airfares Across India
Pune, 5th December 2025: Ongoing operational disruptions at IndiGo Airlines have thrown domestic air travel into turmoil, driving ticket prices sharply higher and leaving passengers stressed and stranded.
Over the past four days, IndiGo has struggled with widespread flight delays and cancellations. On Thursday alone, the airline cancelled over 600 flights nationwide, exacerbating the travel chaos.
Ticket Prices Surge Dramatically
The disruption has caused airfare spikes on major domestic routes:
Pune–Mumbai: Approx. Rs 61,000 per ticket
Pune–Delhi: Approx. Rs 27,000 per ticket
Pune–Bengaluru: Approx. Rs 49,000 per ticket
Reduced seat availability due to cancellations has allowed other carriers to hike fares, compounding passenger frustration. Frequent schedule changes and limited ticket options have left travelers anxious and financially strained.
Frequent flyers and casual travelers alike have voiced concern over the uncertainty in domestic flight operations. Authorities and airlines are under pressure to stabilize schedules and restore affordable, reliable travel as soon as possible.
Officials have urged passengers to check flight statuses carefully before planning travel, as the situation remains fluid with IndiGo gradually attempting to resume normal operations.
