Pune: Maharashtra Extends Validity of Group-B, C & D Selection Lists to Ease Recruitment Delays
Pune, 5th December 2025: In a move aimed at streamlining government hiring, the Maharashtra government has extended the validity of selection lists for Group-B (non-gazetted), Group-C, and Group-D posts under the former Deputy Services Selection Board. The decision is expected to benefit candidates who have been waiting for appointments while also helping authorities fill vacancies more efficiently.
Under the revised guidelines, selection lists prepared by recruitment committees will now remain valid for two years, or until the advertisement for the next recruitment cycle, whichever comes first. The extension applies only to vacancies considered during the preparation of the selection list, ensuring that eligible candidates do not miss their chance due to procedural delays.
Previously, the May 4, 2022 government order allowed selection lists to remain valid for only one year or until the date of the considered vacancies, whichever was later. However, several factors—administrative delays, court proceedings, elections, COVID-19 disruptions, medical examinations, and special considerations for ex-servicemen, athletes, and differently-abled candidates—meant that many candidates lost the opportunity to secure appointments before the expiry of the list.
This not only affected candidates’ careers but also left numerous government posts vacant, forcing authorities to restart the recruitment process repeatedly.
The amended order aims to prevent such delays in the future, providing relief to candidates waiting in merit lists while enabling smoother and faster filling of vacancies. Officials said the extension will help maintain continuity in recruitment, reduce administrative burden, and ensure that eligible candidates can be appointed without unnecessary interruptions.
