Pune: Indrayani River Bed Foams Again Due to Chemical Wastewater Discharge
Alandi, 25th February 2023: The Indrayani River bed in Alandi foamed again due to the release of untreated chemical wastewater from factories and sewage, according to the Indrayani Foundation.
The foundation’s representatives expressed their displeasure over the pollution of the riverbed, stating that if devotees bathe in this chemically contaminated water, skin diseases may occur. They demanded that the government take appropriate measures to prevent companies from releasing chemical-containing wastewater directly into the river.
The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) areas and villages on the banks of the Indrayani River are affected by the chemical discharge.
