Pune: Infamous ‘Chuha Gang’ Leader, Associates Nabbed in Pune with Drugs and Weapons

Katraj, 26th November 2024: In a major crackdown, Pune City Police arrested the infamous leader of the “Chuha Gang” and three of his associates in a swift operation conducted by Ambegaon Police Station. The suspects were caught in possession of drugs, firearms, and other weapons, foiling their plans for a robbery in Santosh Nagar, Katraj.
This proactive operation was carried out under the directives of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, who has been emphasizing preventive action to curb crime in the city. Acting on credible intelligence, a special team led by Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zine set up surveillance near Delight Bakery in Santosh Nagar, resulting in the arrest of the suspects.
Arrested Individuals:
1. Tausif Jameer Syed alias Chuha (28), Santosh Nagar, Katraj, Pune.
2. Suraj Rajendra Jadhav (35), Mangalwar Peth, Solapur.
3. Marcus David Isar (29), Dhanori, Pune.
4. Kunal Kamlesh Jadhav (25), Vadgaon Sheri, Pune.
Items Seized:
The police recovered contraband and weapons valued at ₹13.71 lakh, including:
• 15 grams of Mephedrone (MD) worth ₹3 lakh.
• A pistol with one live round valued at ₹40,500.
• Cash worth ₹4.8 lakh from the sale of MD.
• Weapons: Iron machetes and sharp objects.
• Vehicles: Two two-wheelers and one four-wheeler.
Gang leader Tausif Syed alias Chuha has a record of 15 criminal cases, including charges of extortion, drug trafficking, robbery, attempted murder, and violations under MCOCA. He was also declared wanted in a case at Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station and had been exiled by the court for two years.
A case has been registered by Pune under multiple sections of the IPC, Arms Act, NDPS Act, and Maharashtra Police Act, including Sections 399, 402, 3(25), and 4(25).
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Smarthana Patil and Assistant Commissioner Rahul Aware, with Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zine leading the Ambegaon Police Station team. Officers involved included Police Sub-Inspector Mohan Kalamkar and constables Suresh Shinde, Shailendra Sathe, Hanumant Masal, and others.
