Pune: International conference to explore AI’s role in Sports, Fitness, and Education

Pune, 27th March 2025: The Maharashtriya Mandal’s Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education (CACPE) and MES’s Garware College of Commerce (Autonomous) & MM’s Commerce College are jointly hosting an international conference titled ‘BC2AD’ (Before ChatGPT to AI Disruption) on April 4-5, 2025. This two-day conference explores the impact of technology, innovation, and AI on sports, fitness, and physical education. The event includes keynotes, panel discussions, demos & workshops related to the increasing use of AI in these fields, its benefits, and potential risks.
This two-day international conference will be held at the MES auditorium in Mayur Colony, Kothrud, on April 4-5, 2025. The academic partners of the conference are the Indian Society of Sports and Exercise Medicine, India, Fit 2Sports Pune, and the International Physical Literacy Association (IPLA), UK.
The conference is open to interested individuals at a nominal fee. Eligible participants include sports science professionals, physical education professionals, sports coaches, trainers, in-service professionals, teachers, educators, athletes, technology-innovation experts, IT professionals, sports engineers, fitness enthusiasts, health-wellness professionals, and administrators.
“The advent of AI disruption has transformed sports and education. AI-powered innovations like personalized learning, adaptive sports equipment, and predictive analytics are redefining human potential. However, this technological advancement also poses risks like job displacement, bias, and decreased human interaction. To navigate this new era, responsible AI development is crucial to ensure innovations augment human capabilities while minimizing negative consequences. This conference is a dynamic platform linking the past and present of technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence (AI) in sports, fitness, physical education, and broader educational domains,” said Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale, President of Maharashtriya Mandal.
The conference will feature a distinguished line-up of speakers, including globally renowned experts, researchers, and thought leaders in sports science, AI, and innovation informed by Rohan Damle, Secretary, Maharashtriya Mandal.
Hon Vice Chancellor of YCMOU Prof Sanjeev Sonawane will grace the event as the Chief Guest along with Dr. Sanjay Tambat, dean of Interdisciplinary studies, SPPU for the inauguration ceremony. The closing ceremony will also host a distinguished chief guest Hon Minister of Higher Education Chandrakant Dada Patil, along with Pro-VC Dr Parag Kalkar and other dignitaries.
“The two-day event will provide a unique opportunity for academics, professionals, and enthusiasts to engage in interactive sessions, networking opportunities, and knowledge-sharing on AI’s impact across various domains,” informed Dr Sopan Kangane, Principal, MM’s CACPE.
The conference will culminate in a Closing Ceremony, celebrating the advancements in technology-driven solutions for sports, fitness, and education, along with announcements of innovative certifications and MOOC programs developed by the college, said Dr. Shraddha Naik, conference convenor.
