Pune International Marathon to Be Held on December 7; Full Marathon Route Revised This Year

Pune, 18th November 2025: The 39th edition of the Pune International Marathon, one of India’s oldest and most prestigious distance-running events, will be held on Sunday, December 7, with a revised route for the full marathon categories. The announcement was made by trustee Abhay Chhajed during a press conference held at Marathon Bhavan on Tuesday.

Chhajed said the event, known for placing Pune on the global sports map, is expected to attract more than 15,000 participants this year. The final date for registrations is November 28. Pune Municipal Corporation will offer prize money worth ₹35 lakh across categories, including special awards for the top three Indian finishers in both the full and half marathon groups for men and women.

According to organisers, the full marathon (42.195 km) for men and women will flag off at 3:00 am from the Kalpana-Vishva Chowk near Sanas Ground. The half marathon (21.095 km) will begin at 3:30 am, followed by the 10 km run at 6:30 am, the 5 km race at 7:00 am, and the 3 km wheelchair event at 7:15 am.

International athletes from Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius and other countries have already registered, with over 70 entries confirmed so far. Participants from the Army, Railways, Police, ASI, Bombay Sappers, SRPF, NDA and even runners from Ladakh–Kargil marathon circuits are also expected to compete. Chhajed added that the medals awarded this year will be eco-friendly, continuing the marathon’s sustainability initiative.

Revised Route for Full Marathon
This year’s full marathon will take runners through several key city landmarks. The race will begin at Kalpana-Vishva Chowk, proceeding via Sanas Chowk, Bajirao Road, Nagarkar Talim, Laxmi Road, Kulkarni Petrol Pump, Shaniwarwada, Shivaji Bridge, PMC Building, Modern Café, Jangli Maharaj Road, Deccan Gymkhana, Sambhaji Maharaj Garden, Khandoji Baba Chowk, Karve Road, Karve Statue, Irani Café, Karishma Apartments, Mhatre Bridge, Mehendale Garage, DP Road, Joshi Kitchen, Pandit Farm, Rajaram Bridge, Sinhagad Road, Navsha Maruti, Pu La Deshpande Garden, Panmala, Dandekar Bridge, Parvati foothills, Mahalaxmi Chowk, Sarasbaug and back to Sanas Putala to complete the first 21.095 km loop.

The second loop will extend from Sanas Putala towards Mahalaxmi Chowk, Savarkar Chowk, Khandoji Baba Mandir, Dandekar Chowk, Sinhagad Road, Ganesh Mala, Rajaram Bridge, Santosh Hall, Goyal Ganga Chowk, Dhayari Bridge and Nanded City’s main gate, before circling the Distension Centre and returning via the same route to finish at Sanas Ground.

Half Marathon, 10 km, 5 km and Wheelchair Route Details
The half marathon will follow the same circuit as the first 21 km loop of the full marathon, starting from Kalpana-Vishva Chowk and ending at Sanas Ground.

The 10 km race will start from Kalpana-Vishva Chowk, proceed via Mahalaxmi Chowk and Savarkar Statue, then turn near Santosh Hall on Sinhagad Road to return to Sanas Ground.

The 5 km run will follow the same route until Ganesh Mala Chowk before turning back.

The 3 km wheelchair race will cover the stretch up to Dandekar Bridge and return to Sanas Ground.
