Pune: ‘IPS Officer’ Among 5 Booked For Duping Businessman Of Rs 43 Lakh Promising To Sell DSK’s Confiscated Car At A Cheap Price

Pune, 2 September 2021: A businessman who wanted to purchase builder DS Kulkarn’s confiscated expensive car at a cheap price was duped of Rs 43 lakh.

 

A judicial magistrate court has directed Samarth police station under Pune city police to register a case against six persons including a man who had impersonated as an IPS officer.

Raunak Dilip Oswal of Bhavani Peth has lodged the complaint against Usman Hashmuddin Tamboli, Arshad Usman Tamboli, Mansoor Abdul Gafoor Sayyed, residents of Bhavani Peth, Hamid Sayyed, Ahmed Sayyed, both residents of Bhavani Peth and a man called Suryavanshi who had identified himself as an IPS officer.

 

As per the complaint, Oswal and the accused are known. They reside in the Padamji Park area of Bhavani Peth. Oswal needed money for a business. He took Rs 25 lakh from the accused for a month. He then returned the money.

 

The accused told him that Pune police has seized DSK’s expensive car worth Rs two crore and promised to help him get it for Rs 43 lakh. The accused had called ‘IPS officer Suryavanshi’ to mediate the case. They took the money but, the car was not given.

 

After realising the fraud, Oswal approached Samarth police station.

Initially, police had refused to register Oswal’s case. Therefore, he filed a private complaint through Advocate Seul Shah in court. After verification, the court has directed to register the case and investigate.
