Baramati, 10th March 2023: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against junior engineer Sandeep Gonjari of Zilla Parishad’s minor irrigation department’s Indapur sub-division and teacher Ranjit Prakash Suryavanshi for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakhs from a farmer in Baramati. The teacher was caught red-handed accepting the money on Gonjari’s behalf in a trap laid at Jalochi Road.

According to the ACB, the farmer had filed a complaint stating that Gonjari had demanded a bribe of lakhs of rupees to send a proposal to the district office for increased compensation for his land that had been acquired for a government project. After negotiation, the bribe amount was settled at Rs 2.5 lakhs, which Suryavanshi was caught accepting. Both Gonjari and Suryavanshi have been admitted to the bribery case, ACB said.
