Pune: Irrigation Department Officer Caught Accepting Rs 3.5 Lakh Bribe

Shivajinagar, 24th February 2023: A senior officer of the Maharashtra Irrigation Department was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on today for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3.5 lakh out of the Rs seven lakh he had earlier demanded.

The accused, identified as Tulsidas Ashru Andhale (57), is posted as sub-divisional officer of Bhama Askhed project’s Karanjvihire sub-division in Khed taluka of Pune district.

According to the complainant, who is engaged in plot developments, Andhale visited the site at Koyali village and claimed that the work was within the floodline, threatening legal action against him. To avoid this, Andhale allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs seven lakh.

After the complainant filed a complaint, ACB sleuths laid a trap and caught the officer accepting the first installment of Rs 3.5 lakh at Modibaug in Shivajinagar.

An FIR is being registered against Andhale, and Police Inspector Sandip Warhade is investigating the case further. The action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (ACB) Amol Tambe and Additional SP Suraj Gurav.

The ACB has appealed to the public to report any public servant who demands a bribe and has provided a toll-free helpline number, 1064, and a WhatsApp number, 7875333333.
