Pune: IT Engineer Found Dead With Gunshot Injuries In Kondhwa, Police Investigate Murder Or Suicide

Kondhwa, 12th October 2021: A 47-year-old IT engineer was found dead with gunshot injuries at his flat in Kondhwa on Monday.

Police have detained his two friends who had gone to the flat for a party on Sunday.

Police are not sure whether it was suicide or murder. The friends have told police that it is ‘suicide’ as he shot himself with a pistol.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Yashwant Tarlekar (47), a resident of Sunflower society opposite D-Mart. Kondhwa police station has registered a case and further investigation is going on.

According to police, Ganesh got married 16 years ago. However, due to family disputes, his wife has gone to her mother’s place and he had been living in Pune alone for the last one and half years. He has a 14-year-old son.

After getting information, police rushed to the spot and found him lying in a pool of blood.

Police launched an investigation and found that he had been shot in the head with a pistol. Accordingly, the police detained his two friends who had come to his flat for a party on Sunday afternoon and interrogated them. They told police that Ganesh suddenly fired a shot from a pistol. They got frightened and fled from there with the pistol and locked the flat from outside and fled. The two then threw the pistol into a well. Police have seized the pistol with the help of a magnet.

As all this is suspicious, we are investigating whether it was suicide or murder, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Namrata Patil.
