Pune, January 24, 2021: Heads of different communities and religious leaders like Rev Thomas Dabre, Bishop of Pune and Dr Bhagwat Guruji attended an interfaith dialogue organised on the topic ‘Solutions to the problems faced by our society’.

The programme was organised by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) at Lemon Tree Hotel, Pune, on the eve of its ten days statewide campaign ‘Darkness to Light’. The session was chaired by Rizwanur Rahman Khan, state president of JIH Maharashtra.

Manzoor Khan, unit president of JIH Kondhwa, introduced JIH and its activities. Mohammad Sami introduced the statewide campaign its objectives. He said, “Today our society is facing enormous challenges like rapes, drugs abuse, domestic violence and suicide. These issues have shaken the very basis of our existence. We need to ponder over the solution and the solution to such issues lies in teachings of the Holy Prophet Of Islam.”

Thomas Dabre insisted that such programmes should be organised frequently so that dialogue between communities clear the misunderstanding.

Dr Bhagwat Guruji said that it’s important to know the purpose of our existence, our Lord and our creator.

Islamic scholar and physician, Dr Ikram Katewala, in his keynote address said that “Prophet Mohammad was born in the time when girls were buried alive in Arab. People used to fight for generations over petty issues. The prophet changed the entire course of civilization within twenty years after he was appointed as a prophet by Allah. His teachings and Life is a role model for all of us. It is a high time to study and act upon so that our beloved nation should become a place of peace and prosperity. My idea of India is where a single woman would travel from Kashmir to Kanyakumari without any fear.”

In his presidential address, Rizwanur Rahman said, “26th January is our Republic Day but it comes with gloom and sadness as we are far away from the Bharat of our dreams. The society has been a victim of materialism with a narrow and self-centred approach ie just me and my family. We should think as to why are we here??? There is surely a Day of judgement and accountability for all our deeds in this short worldly life. And this sense of accountability has the potential to solve all human problems bringing us from Darkness to True Light.”
