Pune: Jewellery Worth Rs34 Lakh Stolen from Jeweller on Private Bus

Hadapsar, 21st March 2025: A jeweller from Dombivli lost jewellery worth ₹34 lakh while traveling in a private travel bus from Bijapur to Mumbai. The theft occurred near Hadapsar, and it is suspected that two unidentified men seated behind him stole the valuables. Based on a complaint filed by Bhehraram Kumawat (44, resident of Dombivli East), a case has been registered at Hadapsar Police Station.
According to the police, Bhehraram Kumawat, a jeweller from Dombivli East, frequently travels to Bijapur to sell jewellery. On this trip, he had already sold part of his stock and was returning to Mumbai carrying jewellery worth ₹33.5 lakh and ₹1.12 lakh in cash.
While traveling by a private bus, Kumawat noticed two men seated behind him. As the bus stopped near the Grape Research Center, close to the Hadapsar toll plaza, passengers, including Kumawat, got down for a short break. When he returned to his seat, he discovered that his bag containing the jewellery and cash was missing.
Initially, the police found no concrete evidence in Kumawat’s complaint. However, upon further investigation, it was revealed that the two men sitting behind him had disappeared from the bus at Grape Research Center. Additionally, a technical investigation revealed that one of their mobile phones had been switched off after the incident.
The Hadapsar Police are now searching for the two suspects and are reviewing CCTV footage and passenger details to trace their whereabouts.
